Students Tour Tangalooma Island Resort
As part of the BU1104 – Business, Environment and Society in the Tropics subject, our business undergraduate students were treated to an educational tour of Tangalooma Island Resort located on Moreton Island. This is an annual field trip that is offered to our students and makes up part of their undergraduate degree.
The BU1104 course aims to explore the external and internal environmental context of business and organisational practices in the tropics. It also examines different facets of management operating in remote locations experiencing constraints on resources. *
On this field trip, students were given a backstage pass to the resorts proceedings and shown how customer-facing departments create a memorable customer experience.
After this, the entire cohort was taken outside for their very own helicopter rides above beautiful Moreton Island.
JCU Brisbane lecturer, Eszter Kiss, who accompanied the students on this field trip said,
“Not only did they observe the operations and participated in presentation but also, they had a birds-eye view on the island. That’s right, students got a chance to go for a helicopter tour. It was yet another wonderful day in the Sunshine State!”
Overall, this was a great field trip, with students walking away with a deeper understanding of the operations behind a successful enterprise.
Thank you to everyone who attended and Eszter Kiss for organizing this wonderful excursion.
