Multidisciplinary Project Presentations
As part of the Multidisciplinary Project course offered at JCU Brisbane, a group of final year students worked as business consultants for a special needs foundation dedicated to improving the life of kids facing disabilities in addition to their families.
The Multidisciplinary Project is one of three capstones offered through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program for Business. The subject enables final year students enrolled in the College of Business, Law and Governance to work together in groups to investigate and develop a solution for a project sourced from industry.
For this project students participated in simulated business meetings, assessment centres, brainstorming sessions, regular status reports, corporate training and a final marketing analysis pitch. The final marketing analysis pitch which was presented to industry professionals went very well with academics, JCU Brisbane staff and industry professionals praising the students for their in-depth, well researched reports and recommendations.
Eszter Kiss, Coordinator of the Leading to Work Program said:
“We had some passionate discussions and some students decided to save the world! They even went beyond the scope of this project! I was really pleased to see how determined they were and they were ready to get out of their comfort zone and they visited different places such as special needs schools, met with practitioners and came up with some really good out-of-the-box recommendations. I could see students transform from an assignment-focused university student to a socially responsible, passionate and capable professional.”
WIL Program for Business embedded courses like this give students the opportunity to expand their knowledge outside of the classroom and apply theory to real-world cases. This is one of the many benefits JCU Brisbane offers students during their program to ensure they are job ready.
