JCU Brisbane Bike Club Ride November 2018

On Saturday, November 10th, the JCUB bike club (JCUBBC) had its first ride. And what a ‘funtastic’ day it was. Three students (AJ, Bennet, & Salman) plus Doctor Ian Kirkwood went for a ride through the southern hinterland and overall, rode for about 250kms. First stop was the Outpost Café at Canungra for coffee, a muffin and a discussion on riding skills. Second stop was Hinze Dam – and a view of some spectacular scenery. Third stop was after a longer ride through some great ‘twisty’ roads to the Best of All Lookout at Springbrook. The 350m walk to the lookout from the carpark was fun as it was like a Lord of the Rings setting, and the view over an extinct volcano in Northern NSW was stunning.

We then rode back to Tamborine Mountain where we stopped in a nice little café for lunch. By now it was nearly 2:00pm and as we’d been riding for a few hours, we were able to discuss riding techniques, safety strategies, and which roads were the most fun to ride.

Our final stop was at Loganlea, just before the M1 motorway, where we said our farewells and then rode off home. All in all, a brilliant day – safe riding, great roads, glorious weather – and now we’ve all got some great memories. Actually, I think we’ll all have big grins on our faces for at least 7 days.

Conclusion: we can’t wait for the next ride as we know it will be just as good – or better!!
