How to Monetize Your Good Grades

I’m sure you have heard about the age-old myth that studying abroad is expensive. While this might be true in some instances, for JCU Brisbane students this is not always the case. Throughout this article we will be contesting the idea that studying abroad is too expensive to consider and letting you know how you can monetize your good grades at JCU Brisbane.

Let’s begin with location. JCU Brisbane is located in the heart of the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD) and “Sunshine State” of Queensland. Not only is it central to shopping centres and public transport, it’s also located in one of the “World’s Most Liveable Cities” (Choose Brisbane, 2017). Additionally, according to QS Top Universities’ Best Student Cities Rankings, Brisbane is the cheapest student city in Australia and ranked 21st worldwide (QS Top Universities, 2018). As a fellow future university student, I’m sure you want to get down to business though and see figures.

Now that we have covered living costs, let’s discuss how you can monetize your good grades. Receiving good grades at university is no easy task, so when a student of ours excels, we celebrate! Every trimester at JCU Brisbane we hold an Academic Excellence Ceremony where we award our high performing students with certificates, medals and scholarships. Students who maintain an average GPA of 6.0 or above at the end of their second and third trimesters, qualify for scholarship payments to their designated accounts where they can offset tuition fees for the following trimester. If this continues into their fourth trimester, we then award them with an additional silver or gold medal and an official Commendation document signed by a Campus Executive. This Academic Excellence Award Scholarship is only available at the Brisbane Campus.

The rewards don’t just stop there though… If you received great academic scores in your home country, JCU Brisbane also offers bursaries to students ranging from 10% to 25% of their total tuition fee. Studying abroad has never been more appealing and with the low living costs, available scholarships and bursaries it would be silly to not jump on board and start your overseas university journey.
