Authentic Learning Brought to Life
Learning through experience has been dubbed “the educational wave of the future” and while this concept may sound foreign, at JCU Brisbane we have been implementing authentic learning into our degrees for years.
In a two-part series this trimester, our LB5202 Marketing Management and LB5232 Marketing and Customer Engagement (Digital/Social Media) were given the opportunity to bring their university case studies to life when they received an intimate presentation from Vault Games, Managing Director, Dylan Shearer.
Shearer discussed at length his uber successful business, Vault Games and gave a detailed breakdown of the marketing tactics implemented on a day-to-day basis. Students were then able to ask questions and further explore the marketing avenues before receiving a tour of the company’s headquarters.
This is one of the many examples of our students taking an authentic learning approach to their assessments. Linking what is taught in class with real-world matters ensures our students are graduate ready and have the problem-solving skills necessary for the current job market.
