Credit for Previous Study
If you have completed subjects at another institution, or as part of a different JCU degree, you may be able to gain some credits towards your current degree. To apply for credit for previous study, students must complete an Application for Adanced Standing form and submit to:
James Cook University Brisbane Campus
349 Queen Street
Brisbane QLD 4000
Australia
Students requesting credit as a result of changing courses should complete the credit for previous studies section of your:
- Application to Change Course form (undergraduate students)
- Change/Upgrade Postgraduate Coursework Program form (postgraduate coursework students)
Please attach a certified copy of your academic record if your studies were undertaken at another institution, along with a description of the subjects undertaken from the relevant Student Handbook. This is not necessary for studies undertaken at JCU. If the allocation of credit will influence your subject selection, you will need to have the application processed before the teaching begins.
You are encouraged to submit your application for credit early to allow ample time for it to be processed before the start of teaching. New students are encouraged to submit their credit application when lodging their Application for Enrolment form. This should allow for sufficient processing time prior to the enrolment advisory sessions during Orientation Week. Information on JCU’s credit arrangements with other institutions may be found in the Credit Transfer and Learning Pathways book.
