Accommodation

Students have the option to book for one week or for the entire length of their course. Finding the right accommodation is important so students can settle into study and life in Australia. JCU Brisbane has a comprehensive accommodation program. We have an extensive range of accommodation alternatives, many of which can be confirmed prior to arrival. Students using the accommodation placement service will be charged an application fee of $A220. Many students find that living with an Australian host family is the most effective way of getting to know Australia and our lifestyle. Students can choose to live with an Australian family, couple or single individual. Host families are carefully chosen to ensure that students are placed in a secure and friendly environment where they are made to feel comfortable.


  • HomeStay
    Students can choose to live with an Australian family, couple or single individual. Homestay hosts are carefully chosen to ensure that students are placed in a secure and friendly environment. All students are provided with their own single room with a comfortable bed, desk, chair and wardrobe. The families that participate in our accommodation program live close to a bus stop or train station and are approximately 10 to 20 minutes' travelling time to the campus. Students are provided with breakfast and dinner during the week and, on the weekend they are supplied with three meals a day. Students pay for their own phone calls and we suggest buying an international phone card to make international calls. If for any reason, a student is unhappy with the family they have been allocated to, we will transfer them to another family at no extra cost.

    Homestay costs are:
    - $A200 per week (45 minutes travel to campus)
    - $A220 per week (30 minutes travel to campus)


  • Rental Accommodation
    Rental accommodation is the preferred option among many students. Students can arrange for their own rental accommodation by using online resources such as such as www.realestate.com.au, that list properties presently available for rent.
  • Uni Lodge
    Uni Lodge offers students 320 self-contained and fully furnished apartments. The majority of the apartments are suitable for one person, with some corner suites able to accommodate two people. This self-catering accommodation is situated in the centre of Brisbane.

  • Southbank Campus Apartments
    The South Bank Campus Apartments is a complex of 75 fully furnished apartments spread over six levels. There is a range of single, two or three bedroom apartments available. Students can rent out an entire apartment or share an apartment with other students. This accommodation is located approximately one bus zone from the heart of the city.

  • Off Campus (Temporary)
    Our accommodation services coordinator can organise temporary backpacker style accommodation for you. Students often stay in temporary accommodation while looking for a suitable rental property. If you are booking your own temporary accommodation it is advised that you check that the hostel is close to the Brisbane CBD. Websites for backpacker hostels are easy to locate via a simple web search.
