Overview

JCU’s new PQP provides an alternative pathway directly into selected postgraduate level programs for students who do not quite meet the normal academic entry requirements for a coursework postgraduate program. This allows a wider range of students to undertake postgraduate study without having to first complete a bachelor degree.

PQP gives international students meeting the specified academic entry criteria the opportunity to demonstrate their capability to undertake postgraduate programs.

PQP elevates the student’s academic capabilities and/or background knowledge and skills to a level suitable for coursework postgraduate study. Successful completion of PQP guarantees direct entry into:
  • Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma & Master of Business Administration
  • Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Professional Accounting
  • Master of Business Administration / Master of Professional Accounting
  • Masters of International Tourism & Hospitality Management

Course Structure

PQP is a 4-month full time study program, which can be packaged:

  • PQP + MBA = 2 years, can be fast tracked to complete in 16 months at JCU Brisbane
  • PQP + MPA = 2 years, can be fast tracked to complete in 16 months at JCU Brisbane
  • PQP + MITHM = 2 years, can be fast tracked to complete in 16 months at JCU Brisbane
  • PQP + MPA/MBA = 2.5 years , can be fast tracked to complete in 20 months at JCU Brisbane
  • PQP+MITHM/MBA=2.5 years, can be fast tracked to complete in 20 months at JCU Brisbane
Advanced standing credit is not available for entry to the PQP, nor from PQP subjects into a postgraduate program.

English Language Entry Requirements

You must provide evidence of English proficiency if English is not your first language.

  • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.0, with a minimum score of at least 5.5 in each component
  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 550, with a Test of Written English score of at least 4.0; or a computer-based score of 213 with an essay rating of at least 4.0; or an internet-based score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 19.
  • Alternative pathways that provide evidence of equivalent levels of English

Results must be less than two years old at the time of application.

Academic Entry Qualifications
Qualifications or academic record determined by JCU to be equivalent to within half a year (12 credit points) of successful completion of a relevant undergraduate Australian business degree. Equivalences by country are determined by JCU

  • For India: - A 3 or 4 year Bachelor degree awarded in NOOSR Section II - 3rd or pass class, NOOSR Section III - 2nd, 3rd or pass class, NOOSR Section IV - 1st class pass.
  • For China: - Successful completion of a 3 or 4 year Diploma, or Certificate of Graduation from a degree- granting MOE institution (without evidence of the Bachelor degree being awarded - ie. where the student has successfully completed the Bachelor degree requirements but has not been awarded the Bachelor; degree); three year diplomas excludes postsecondary level courses, i.e must be Degree level courses.
  • For other countries : - Determined on application.
