Overview

Accounting graduates are in high demand in Australia's fastest growing state, Queensland, and enjoy a wide range of employment opportunities in the public and private sector including: public accounting practice; auditing; financial analysis; financial and management accounting; management consulting; banking; stockbroking; systems support and analysis; taxation and financial advising.

In this joint degree, the Master of Professional Accounting is combined with the Master of Business Administration to provide graduates with a joint high-level award in reduced time. 
Career Opportunities
This program is designed to provide  graduates with skills to operate as professional accountants and also to prepare them  for senior management  positions that require financial managerial skills.

Professional Recognition

Graduates of this program are fully eligible for associate membership of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia . To become a Certified Practising Accountant, graduates must complete an additional CPA Australia program.

Course Structure

The course provides training in the key areas of accounting and finance as well as exposing students to key management areas such as human relations, marketing, business law, taxation, economics and business information systems.

Internship Option

In the final trimester, high performing students, subject to meeting performance criteria, may choose to take up an Industry Internship as an alternative to a classroom based subject.

    English Language Entry Requirements

    You must provide evidence of English proficiency if English is not your first language. Results must be less than two years old at the time of application.
    • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.0, with a minimum score of at least 5.5 in each component
    • TOEFL: A minimum score of 550, with a Test of Written English score of at least 4.0; or a computer-based score of 213 with an essay rating of at least 4.0; or an internet-based score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 19.
    • Alternative pathways that provide evidence of equivalent levels of English
    Academic Entry Qualifications

    An undergraduate degree in any discipline or other qualifications deemed equivalent; or evidence of professional experience that meets the approval of the Head of School or Faculty.
     
    Advanced Standing Credit

    JCUB recognises advanced standing credit for equivalent studies at an equivalent level from Australian or overseas universities. The credit is determined after receipt of application.

    Subjects successfully completed for the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Accounting can be credited towards the Master of Professional Accounting.
